And here we have the second part of the Linn offer. I’ve tried to capture the ‘free’ Karousel bearing and the enabling Kandid in one shot:
Yesterday afternoon, in pretty lousy driving conditions, I took the Aro for another trip up the Fosse Way to Cymbiosis to have the Kandid installed. It seemed pointless taking my turntable back as well just to have the height of the arm pillar adjusted to suit the new (taller) cartridge, since it had been set up just a week previously when the Karousel was installed. Peter gave me an extended lesson in setting the pillar height, as well as other general Aro set-up tips, so I could do it myself at home.
Below I show a couple of photos taken by Peter yesterday of the Kandid installation and how he managed to fit the four flying leads from the cartridge, together with the arm leads and connector pins in the small space between the rear of the cartridge and the front end of the arm tube. Neat job!
The Kandid is rather good, isn’t it?!

It's just over two months since I had the Karousel and Kandid upgrades and I reckon I've used the LP12 for somewhere around thirty hours since, but I am beginning to wonder if my initial enthusiasm for the pair was more about expectation of what it ought to be able to do, than what it actually delivers. Most of the time my LP12 sits idle, being used perhaps once a fortnight, if that. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but what do others find? Do you honestly find the Karousel lifts the performance? Has it made you want to play more records?
Funnily enough when I was playing the Clifford T Ward this morning I thought how much better the Karousel is making it sound, and yes I want to use the LP12 more than my body is allowing me to. Even Mrs O has commented, so it can't just be my expectations.
I assume that you have tweaked the Tacking Force and Bias to see what changes they give (IIRC the Kandid is a bit sensitive when it comes to those)

That’s an interesting thought, James. I’ll get tweaking again. I have already described on another thread the issue about centre of gravity movement and balancing the Aro, but I shall have to bite the bullet and have another go. I think I’m currently tracking with a ‘measured’ force of 1.9mN.
