Lovely retro looking fruit box.
Cool prismatic rainbow on the vinyl too.
Jake doesn't look too ruff either. 8) :smt023

Hi, thanks all.
This is my second lp12, my first was in the 70's with a Syrinx PU2 arm and Asak. Traded in for a CD player in 83.
Decided to go back to Vinyl this year and built this one from parts obtained from various sources.
Fluted LP12 no base fitted. Majik subchassis, Cirkus bearing,Valhalla, Rega rb330, Goldring 2100. Elliot Sounds Phono pre. Marantz cd6006. Moth passive preamp. Three LK100s. Active Kabers (Scanspeak 2008 tweeters)

Definitely not. I tried the deck without it and very quickly reinstalled it.

Also I find that that I am disinclined towards Tranquility-less decks generally - it seems that not having a Tranquility is a basic handicap.

Must be plenty of handicap people then..

My LP12 must be handicapped then. When I was at Cymbiosis for the Kudos 606/707 launch, Peter did a couple of with and without demos of the Tranquility for me and I couldn't detect any audible difference! I really must give it another try some time.

When did you last have a proper hearing test ?
Might be worth having one first if you've not had one for some time.

It was a very busy day with lots going on. So yes we can re-visit some time, no worries.
One thing is for certain of course and that is the difference between Akurate and Klimax Radikals was a biggie for you and that and other reasons suggests that you don't require the services of an audiologist for a while yet

Thanks, Peter. I will be in touch to revisit the Tranquility as soon as I generate the free cash flow to investigate that at the same time as an upgrade from Chord SSA to Sarum T - may as well justify the trip up the Fosse Way!

It may be like night and day but some prefer night over day 😀

All the best,

Its not a case of what you prefer it's a case of he couldn't hear any difference between a deck with the Tranquility and one without. :smt058
