LP12 level

Post by SeptemberSong » Sat Jun 18, 2016 9:34 pm

Apologies if this has been covered previously.

What's best practice to ensure that an LP12 is sitting level?

1) Level the wall shelf

2) Level the plinth top edges

3) Level the platter

TIA

I've always done it shelf first then the plinth then finally if the suspension is all setup nice it should follow.
I never put stuff on the platter just check the arm board is all flush with the plinth.:smt045

IIRC its Tramp feet would in, and level the top of the plinth via the shelf adjustment (if any) or shim under the feet.

The arm board and sub chassis should remain level relative to the plinth.

George,
Have you put your old wall shelf back on the wall?

Yes I have Stu. It was atop a Fraim stack, but my floor is slightly bouncy.

My shelf is adjustable and level. I've since checked the plinth and platter for level and both are good. All I have to do now is get some glass to replace the wood board of the shelf.

Cheap as chips, but about a months lead time (I suspect they do it when production allows)

I have mine atop my Quadraspire Evo rack using NAIM Cups and Balls

George,
Don't replace the board unless it bent/warped.
Just try one of your Naim Fraim glass balls and cups on it under your LP12.
I don't remember the make of your wall shelf?
If you need a new board? Tiger Paw make a good thick one at a reasonable price.
Its the same one used on the brilliant VulKan wall shelf.
