Jim,
The Ekos SE 1 is the current top arm sold by Linn.
Has been for the last couple of years.
The 1 was added to denote the difference from the Ekos SE.
As Eddie said above It has a slightly larger headshell to accomodate bigger/longer cartridges that were a pain to fit in the original SE.
SQ is still the same.

Indeed, and if you go back through and search, you'll see I was lobbying David.W for a change in the headshell back in 2007 and also for a heavier counterweight option too.

David delivered on this with the new Se/1 about 4 years ago now. :D :smt023 And guess what.... We now sell a lot more because of this improvement in compatibility, without compromise to sound quality.

Pictures of Dynavector XV-1s both in old and new headshells are on the Linn Forum and the change made everyone's life easier IMHO.

In answer to your original question Stu. about 12600 in total, that's Ekos 1, Ekos 2, Ekos Se and Ekos Se/1 as unusually for Linn these days the Ekos arms are numbered consecutively.

Is it known at which respective production numbers each of the several Ekos models changed? I am pretty sure the Ekos to Ekos 2 number was well known but cannot recall what it was.
Currently Cymbiosis LP12 Woodsong Wenge, Klimax Radikal/Chord Sarum T, Keel/A, Khan, Tranquility, Urika/Chord SSA, Aro, sKale, Lyra Kleos SL - Sondek owner since 1982 - the rest is Naim, Chord and Kudos 8)
