New Urika and Lingo rumours???

Post by FangfossFlyer » Sat Jan 27, 2018 7:49 pm

Any rumours your way as regards a new Urika and Lingo from Linn out there?

I caught something on another forum but it soon disappeared. So could be nothing.

I saw the page before it was pulled.

Apparently there are a couple of new products becoming available and you aren’t wrong.

Improved Lingo and also Urika with Exakt at LP12 level.

As always, rumour is one thing but confirmation from Linn should be forthcoming.

Indeed, it seems that Linn will be launching a new digital Urika (Exakt output only) and the Lingo 4, which is apparently built around technology learned from the Radikal development.

I do wonder whether the rumour was intentionally released to get people talking about them before the imminent release. The rumour of a Krystal with a boron cantilever has not yet been substantiated
Currently Cymbiosis LP12 Woodsong Wenge, Klimax Radikal/Chord Sarum T, Keel/A, Khan, Tranquility, Urika/Chord SSA, Aro, sKale, Lyra Kleos SL - Sondek owner since 1982 - the rest is Naim, Chord and Kudos 8)

Hi Chris,

A Urika with a digital output is in my view inevitable considering the direction Linn is going and makes sense within an Exakt system.

All the best,

Richard

Beginning to be some postings on the Linn forum. Appears dealers have been invited to Glasgow and an announcement may be imminent today, Tuesday 30th January.

We will see.

Would be interesting if they were doing something as regards a new top plate / solid plinth like the Stilleto......

They tried the solid plinth many years ago and on listening tests and manufacturing costs was deemed unviable.
Maybe some are more easily parted with their cash now. :smt017

Here is a translation of info pilfered elsewhere.

The Linn Sondek LP12 is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year and is being celebrated with two new and innovative products: the Urika II and a new Lingo power supply.

45 years LP12
The new Urika II is an innovative breakthrough in phono stages. As usual with Linn, they keep trying to read the maximum amount of analog information from the record, but in the Urika II they use their 'cutting-edge' digital signal processing to extract the RIAA correction in a unique and extremely accurate way in the digital domain. feed.

This means less distortion. Less noise.
And, most importantly: more music!

The musical information from the Urika II is transported over Exakt Link and thus remains perfectly preserved until the very last moment. That is not all ... With the Urika II, Linn has chosen the same approach as with their Exakt loudspeakers: they can optimize every individual device, correcting variations inherent in the analog signal path.

The Urika II can be set to any desired element via Konfig. Simply select from a list of popular elements or enter the data yourself if the element is not in the database. Everything from the lazy seat!

All in all, the Urika II takes the Klimax LP12 to a whole new level!

The current Urika will for the time being continue to exist alongside the new Urika II.

The new Lingo
The Lingo LP12 power supply has also received a major upgrade, using the technology developed for the Radikal LP12 power supply.

The new Lingo has an engine speed management system on board and uses digital signal processing to make the turntable even more precise and consistent to run. This is of course crucial for music: even the smallest speed variations change the pitch and a turntable that does not exactly run is like a poorly tuned instrument.

The new model is more practical, compact and smarter than ever and, just like the Urika II, offers improvements that you can measure and really hear.

Lingo is the source for your most important source and with that the first improvement everyone should do without Lingo (or with an old Lingo!).

The new Lingo immediately replaces the 'old' Lingo.

Two tempting extra offers
To celebrate 45 years of Sondek LP12, Linn has two special extra offers on top of the new products.

'Fluted' plinth
Linn has brought back the 'Fluted' plinth (with horizontal grooves). This design dates from the start time of the very first LP12s. The plinth is available in all standard versions and is available as a strict 'limited edition' when purchasing an Urika II or Lingo.
Pricing.
This may be country dependant and thus I only have a Euro example.
The new products have the following prices (with reservation):
Urika II
Lingo
Urika II + Radikal package (Standard housing)
Urika II + Radikal package (Klimax housing)
Fluted plinth
€ 3,327
€ 1,760
€ 6.207
€ 8.736
€ 699
This looks ominous. :smt018
The current Urika will for the time being continue to exist alongside the new Urika II.
