The New Tiger Paw Stratos Plinth

Post by Craig Lang » Mon May 14, 2018 7:21 am

I've just seen a picture of it with the Javelin arm on another forum and it's got my taste buds going.
What a terrific looking deck.

Bet it's this one.
Let's not forget it's not only the Javelin arm spearing the competition but the Stratos plinth is also in the audiophile and music lovers interest. 8) :smt023

Whilst I await various dems I would be interested in any comments or dems comparing the Stratos and Stiletto.

Any experience or comments out there?

Haven't heard any of them but to me it makes perfect sense with all the synergy that with all the R&D the Stratos and Javelin Together is a given.
And also goes to show that engineering can be done to an audiophile standard and not just a price. 8) :smt023

Well, if the Stratos is as at least as good as the Stiletto, which I have dem’ed, and if combined with the Javelin even better than my Ekos SE then if I were to upgrade I could be quids in compared to going to a full TA option (Stiletto+base+shelf).

The New Tiger Paw Stratos Plinth

The Stratos looks great and certainly the Tiger Paw LP12 was convincingly superior to The Flatearther's very high spec Sondek, but there were so many other differences that it is not really possible to be sure the extent to which they each contributed.

The Javelin and the Stratos are clearly both pretty special products. They are beautifully made and I am convinced that the Javelin as an arm tube replacement is going to be significantly better than the Naim Aro, which I already prefer in its current guise to the Linn Ekos SE. I expect the gap to widen.

I would also be intrigued to know how the Stratos compares to a Tangerine Stiletto - which I have yet to hear. If the Stiletto is better, is it £2,000 (or a Javelin) better? Which sub-chassis and/or arm would be the best to use to make that comparison? Until we get a Keel compatible Javelin how do we know if the Javelin will work with what most still assume is the "best" sub-chassis?

Might the Akula be needed to get the best out of the Javelin? There could be a super-compatibility, or synergy from having more of the same manufacturer's parts, but possibly such synergy (or sometimes fault masking) could make products less universally applicable.

So many questions :smt023
Currently Cymbiosis LP12 Woodsong Wenge, Klimax Radikal/Chord Sarum T, Keel/A, Khan, Tranquility, Urika/Chord SSA, Aro, sKale, Lyra Kleos SL - Sondek owner since 1982 - the rest is Naim, Chord and Kudos 8)

Stiletto is a one piece with separate base, Stratos is a 'split in half' design with the base integral to the lower half.

I suspect that would prevent any copyright problems (though I might be wrong of course)

I don't imagine a Klimax Plinth making an appearance but never say never.
