Yes that's what I mean, sorry should have been clearer ( A1 in my case)
So I guess the Krystal isn't one of your faves, did you have back to backs re dynavector, linn and Lyra and what was the price of each re bang for buck? I suppose as previously said its a personal choice, you like what you like. I hate having dilemmas!!
Also thinking of arm would my ittok be complimentary with said choices?
Thanks again for all your input I don't have a burning urge to spend but it will come up and as you are all aware daddy xmas is round the corner :mrg:

Mike,
I'd had a Troika in my Ekos 1 for many years and although it still played and looked like new when retired I thought it must be best to have a more up to date replacement.
Thinking that my old cart must getting old inside by now the Krystal was released and as it had the three point mounting seemed a great idea for an upgrade.
It definitely was to start with but long story it became problematic and was swapped out for another that too went problematic with tracking but enough was enough.
I looked at the Lyra and Dynavector route as I know a few that use a DV with excellent results and it's really boogie cart.
I was thinking about my dilemma and as the Kandid is made by Lyra then the Delos seemed like a great idea I know Adam " Wenge " had a Delos and was really up there.
The next cart in the Lyra range was the Kleos and this to me was very like a Kandid but with a higher mass body and two fixing bolts and the body is made of the same material as the Ekos SE/1.
For the difference in price I opted for the three point mount and fly lead termination and lower mass.
I could have went round and round for ever but as I'm not thinking about a quick change again I bit the bullet on an only here once thinking opportunity. 8) :smt023

I see Jim
Can I ask what that particular bullet cost you and what is the predicted lifespan ( the cartridge not yours )?
And indeed what it brought to your particular party?
As I understand it you like a lot of jazz and I'm guessing there's no thrash metal in there :smt018
Did you end up losing money on the Krystal s?

Mike.
This thread is a good read about the trails and tribulations of Krystal ownership.
The highs and the lows.
Krystal Klub
Kabineers have a familiarity with Krystal.
Life expectancy is a mystery I was going to say check the Krystal ball but that's not as funny as it used to be.
If you go through the thread you'll find I had my troika for 26 years no problems and here is a picture of it the day it retired.

Guess your not a huge linn fan after that experience!!!
Without reading everything about the cartridge has there been many more defective ones with or without spt?
Bet you shed a small tear when you checked out that troika piccy :smt89

Mike,
Yes mate some more on the other forum have had cantilevers dissapear and collapse but most just out of warranty.
When they stay together or on tune they're great but I just couldn't put up with the unreliability and worry with something supposed to be for joy and relaxation. :smt018
that experience is just one of a number but I love my deck. :smt007

Hi Tony, the Krystal and Urika work superbly together so I doubt there is any chance you will be disappointed - the Urika is a fab phono stage in its own right . Of course your ears will tell you all you all need to know and if your not sure - don't buy. Sometimes we over complicate things ............ :smt023
