Lingo 4 Installation

Post by Garland » Wed Oct 03, 2018 3:20 pm

I have the opportunity to acquire a Lingo 4 in great condition. Is there any reason I can't install it myself? ie. special tools, measuring devices etc. I can't find any information on how to go about installing the power supply. I was a professor of electrical engineering and have built my own amps preamps etc. so, the technical ability isn't a problem. Thanks

Hi and welcome.
It's a pretty costly item and is recommended for optimum performance to be installed by a competent dealer.
Having said that there is no reason " other than warranty " why this can't be a home job.
It is certainly much more straightforward than the previous versions to fit as it does away with the rather Heath Robinson method of speed adjustment.
There is a very generously supplied set up guide that goes right through deck and although it covers the Radikal installation it is quite similar.

And as far I am aware involves no unique setup tools " especially strobe etc "
Although a suitable jig or table for underneath access is pretty much vital.
Hope this helps and welcome to the happy ship Kabin.

No reason at all, if a dealer can install it, so can you.
That said, having the installation manual would be very handy. :smt023

As I recall, it also entails changing the motor, so it's not just a simple "change a circuit board" adventure. :smt009
If you run into any problems, you can always ask questions on the Linn Forum...Oh wait...never mind...

The L4 comes with a comprehensive set of set-up instructions if someone wishes not to have a dealer installation.

Combined with my guide which does not have anything on the L4 yet (due to me being a tad busy recently) if you really want to do it then and provided you have a jig........................

Thanks guys for the encouragement. As I have a stand, I'm going to go ahead and do it. If I get stuck, I'll post up and ask for help.

Cheers.

Hi Garland

Remember, if you do get stuck a photo is worth a thousand words.

Good luck
