I try never to compare a novel with a film/tv/radio series.

Treat them as separate entities and complete in themselves. (besides which its so long since I read the book I couldn't remember it  )

I have to say that cuts aside the BBC really does do drama well. Hooked from the begining, stunning cast, Hugh has totally cast off the 'House' thing and does an amazing job at playing the bad guy. Eye candy not to shabby either (sorry to lower the tone but she was a good looking girl).

Stephen Fry has said that Hugh's acting is all in the eyes.

His eyes exuded pure evil. Plus the Lighting Cameraman did a cracking job.

Any quality actor does it with their eyes.
The great Larry Olivier was a expert at using his eyes.
There is a scene in the film A bridge to far where he's standing up in a moving jeep looking at all devastation around him.
His face and eyes tell the story that no voice ever could.
