Best place to buy Blu-Rays these days?

Post by MHmusic » Mon May 14, 2018 3:50 pm

Hi,

We have been streaming movies for a while now but would like to go back to Blu-Rays because the sound quality is significantly better. But on first glance a lot of the places I used to find good prices on the latest Blu_rays seem to have disappeared. As Tech has moved again to 4k UHD versions and these are the priciest obviously enough any tips about where to check out would be greatly appreciated.

I have ordered one from WOWHD who were around when we were last buying Blu-Rays but struggled to find anywhere that looked particularly great or easy to find the 4k ones. I have tried amazon and HMV does have a 2 for £30 offer which isn't too bad compared to the regular prices. Just wondered if anyone knew the latest tips and tricks - thanks.

I don't watch a lot on TV so I'm afraid I can't help.

Thanks

Will post updates when I find good places.

So far

HMV - good choice and a 2 for £30 deal
Amazon (UK) - smaller range than I had expected and not much around as 'used' yet.
WowHD - I have ordered Fifth Element from there to see how things go with them these days but looks like it will take a couple of weeks so not ideal :( but cheaper :)

I have found more sites telling me what each 4k Bluray is like for quality of image audio and plot etc.than I have places that want to sell it to me without a mortgage. :D

Is it worth signing up to lots of sites that give 10% off your first order?

Probably. I did notice a few that had offers like that. Part of the problem is that there aren't that many sites to choose from these days. Back when we were buying/collecting DVDs there were loads of sites all competing and offering lower and lower prices. I think so many of them have gone bust that the ones left can charge a premium and especially so for the 4k ones because there are even less sites offering those. I don't know but I had thought they had been about for quite a while now but they don't seem easily accessible. Thanks though.

Thanks - I hadn't come across that one before. Will keep an eye on it. Looks comparable to HMV I think.
