Won't post pics of each one but in an attempt to see as many as possible before tonight's Oscars we have seen over the last fortnight and mostly over past few days:

Fences
Hacksaw Ridge
Hidden Figures
Moonlight
Captain Fantastic
Hell or High Water
Manchester By The Sea
Hidden Figures
Jackie
Jungle Book

Enjoyed them all TBH. Some for there artistry, Some for just being a good and enjoyable movie and some for their acting.

The one that has blown the others out of the water from an acting perspective for us here was Fences. Denzel is rarely anything less than good and is even better in this one and Viola is equally brilliant as Suppporting actress and his wife in the story. Both Hidden Figures and Hacksaw Ridge are heartwarming/uplifting stories but the latter is set amongst a no holds barred portrayal of how horrendous war is in real life (vs the movies). It is hard to watch at times but don't let that deter you from what is a great film.

Captain Fantastic and Hell etc. are both quirly interesting stories and very well done. Moonlight and Manchester are for the cinema fan with less plot and more about conveying emotion and real life with jackie somewhere in between. Jungle Books is a hoot in true Disney tradition and with stunning tech for 98% of what you see.

Been very enjoyable - now to pick who wins what before the show begins. :D

I think Denzel will get his third Oscar tonight for Fences and his wife in the film will get one and well deserved it will be. :smt023
Its just a shame it will feel a bit like the token black awards after the shit that went down last year.
I've not seen the list of foreign films nominated, But if there is a Mexican film in there ?I hope it wins. :smt023
When Denzel was on a chat show over here a few weeks ago Graham Norton looked at his prompt cards and said You why have you never made a film in the UK ? then did his stupid annoying laugh.
Thing is, He did make a film over here with Mandy Image years ago not long after she finished Richards Things with Liv Ullmann.Image
Mandy was absolutely brilliant in her roll 8) :smt023
Denzel was total shite rubbish.

He can't do English and completely fooked the film up. :smt018

If you recorded it and haven't watched it yet don't read any further.

Just finished watching the Oscars and off to bed now. It was the weirdest, funniest, most awful ending when they managed to screw up the announcement of best film and the wrong people were halfway through their acceptance speech (the La La Land crew) before they could correct it and announce the right ones (Moonlight).

I thought Fences was the best albeit unlikely to win best film on the night I do think Denzel should have got best Actor for sure.

Good show.

I know I'm an old jazz fart and well attuned to watching talking pictures TV
I watched this last night and although the storyline wasn't exactly taxing I enjoyed playing spot the real musician. 8)
Nice to see that atmospheric vibe on film that might be imagined spinning the Vinyls.
Did i take that too far  ?
