Help with Jazz Records

Post by JDEC » Sun Aug 12, 2018 2:30 pm

Hi,

I have just gained access to a collection of jazz records and CDs.

I've picked a few out to play to find out what condition they are in. Most seem play well on my LP12 despite having been played previously on an AIWA midi system.

Some I like a lot, others less so, and some have the potential for being worth a bit, and maybe a lot.

There are around 50-100 Blue Note and Verve recordings. I think that the most valuable are likely to be the early Blue Note - there aren't many of those, most appear to be reissues. Some have the RVG stamp and ear - others are later DMMs - which incidentally sound better to me than the more valuable early ones (I know, I must be a philistine).

Anyway - those that I'm not keen keen on I will attempt sell, to help raise some money for a the hospice where the original collector spent his final few weeks. If anyone has any special requests - I'll try and search them out. There are over 800 LPs in total, some of which are not very good at all.

If anyone has suggestions of where to sell (other than that well known auction site), the gentleman's widow is keen that they go somewhere where they will be enjoyed, so I don't particularly want to offload them onto a dealer.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi.
Just a quick response to show an interest.
I don't want to state the obvious or tell my granny how to suck eggs.
But you know condition is king and especially in the case of rarities for pricing.
Either a record collector price guide book would be a big help if not even a dig at the discogs website for an idea of recently " turned " Sorry.
It's a laborious effort but might well be a good fund raiser rather than a dealer offering a quid each " I'll clear you're feet Guv "
Bit much to list but maybe an occasional batch list. :smt017
Hope this helps. 8) :smt023
As would a list.
