Still looking into this new release its available apparently on all formats but I've just seen an online pre release price of over £25 for the CD.
Don't think I'm that excited. :smt018
It's to be on vinyl too but not listed for preorder yet. :smt017

Fairport Convention, the UK's most influential folk-rock band, celebrates its 50th anniversary with 50:50@50. Half the fourteen tracks were recorded at recent concerts and half in the studio. With nine compositions by members of Fairport, the album presents a mix of brand new songs and favourites from Fairport's repertoire. Two tracks feature guest lead vocals: one from Robert Plant and one from Pentangle's Jacqui McShee.

Have pre-oreded the vinyl @ £17.92

Release date: 10th March 2017

Info on Amazon says the Label is 'Matty Groove' ...anyone heard of them? :g-scratch:

Debbie,
Matty Grooves Records is a record label which was started by the members of Fairport Convention in 2004, when Woodworm Records was put into hold. The name is derived from the English folk song with a similar name.
This is the fourteenth album release on this label.

Thanks, Jim! that's reassuring.

i can think of 3 FC vinyl reissue albums i had on either crap warpy vinyl, or poor SQ masterings,
however; technically 50/50 is not a reissue, so hopefully we are in for a treat :g-yep:

Jim,
I have everything by FC and pretty much everything by anyone who was ever in the band.
I haven't bothered ordering it on any format.
Its a digital cash cow recording. :smt018

The Fairport Convention 50:50@50 album track listing

Eleanor's Dream (Chris Leslie)
Ye Mariners All (Live) (Traditional; arranged by Fairport Convention)
Step By Step (Chris Leslie)
The Naked Highwayman (Live) (Steve Tilston)
Danny Jack's Reward (Ric Sanders)
Jesus on the Mainline (Live) (featuring Robert Plant) (Traditional; arranged by Fairport Convention)
Devil's Work (Chris Leslie)
Mercy Bay (Live) (Chris Leslie)
Our Bus Rolls On (Chris Leslie)
Portmeirion (Live) (Ric Sanders)
The Lady of Carlisle (featuring Jacqui McShee) (Traditional; arranged by Fairport Convention)
Lord Marlborough (Live) (Traditonal; arranged by Fairport Convention)
Summer By The Cherwell (PJ Wright)
John Condon (Live) (Richard Laird / Sam Starrett / Tracey McRory)

Totals over 64 minutes so maybe a double vinyl album...? :g-scratch:

The tracks are available for a 30 second sample listen on Amazon Downloads.

IMO the content sounds quite varied, some quick good and tuneful, some pipe and slippers,
and Mr Plant sounding more Country than folk.
It may sound far more interesting on vinyl,
it maybe a digital source but how good it is depends upon mastering and quality, will have to wait and see.

Amazon just upped the price to £21.99 :g-rolleyes:
Hope everyone here got their vinyl pre-order in beforehand.

Has anyone on here got 'Mental Illness' yet? It's currently £14.49 for a vinyl copy from the river. Any feedback welcome before I hit the buy key.
