Enter the 301.

You mean there's more to HiFi than a LP12?

Enter the 301.

Post by Daddy Dom » Sun Mar 03, 2019 3:38 am

Hello Kabineers,
my migration here has been a while coming but my well set-up LP12 has given me nothing to report. However ... My new turntable has also been a while coming, since I first heard it in the late-'60s to be exact.

I recently took delivery of the newly-plinthed and rebuilt Garrard 301 that once belonged to my Uncles. They lived in the same flat from the mid-'50s right up to the clear-out four years ago. I have their QUADs too, so everything's reunited (and it feels so goood).

All that's left to do is get me head around SMEs in everyday use and covering the plinth with something nice to look at.

The fruit-box is sitting patiently but is enjoying a well-earned rest after some 16 years' peerless service.
Cheers,
DD

(Before anyone states the obvious, my rack is not bent, it's the camera angle ;) )

Great 301, and I like the plinth as it is, end grain and all. If it was me I'd get a custom Perspex cover made to keep the dust out of the oily bits.

Nice looking QUAD's too. Last time I saw a set of those was in a second hand HiFi shop in Shepherds Bush Green back in the 80's and I was very temped (not by the price though)

... and welcome
James

Hello and welcome. :smt039
That's Beautiful vintage system there it brings back very early memories for me.
How fortunate all that equipment found a custodian that has kept it together
and most still servicable too
It'd be cool to have a themed room to suit that reminds me of this.
