Congratulations!
The Akubariks w/Organik should take you far into the future. Then there will most likely be a Utopik upgrade before too long. Let's see who gets their new speakers first.

I used blue jeans cable cat 6 but found the sound to better when the wires were connected with the writing on the cables were in the direction away from the speakers.
Don’t know if you want to go into that much detail.
I also preferred them with matched power chords which unfortunately was not delivered by Linn.

For the power cords, I’ve got a bunch of Merlin stuff from Futureshop which is pretty good, will repurpose those.

A fun summer indeed. Mine should show up right about the time the days are as long as they get. I usually spend a lot of time outdoors. Maybe this summer will be a little different.
I guess with the discount you got a trade-in for the M140s wasn't happening. My deal was the opposite; no discount with a hefty trade-in. My old speakers (Aktiv Tukans) have been in service in the theatre for the past six years.

Re: Linn Akubarik - opinions needed
I spoke to Blue Jeans Cable about directionality of their cables. They are exactly the same at both ends. So the only difference is the writing on the jacket. If one hears a difference, it would be easy to blind test. I would expect no difference to be heard unsighted.Zee9 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:02 am I used blue jeans cable cat 6 but found the sound to better when the wires were connected with the writing on the cables were in the direction away from the speakers.

A quick update guys. 1 month in and no word on the Akubariks. Getting impatient now .
On the positive side managed to sell the MEB-I and the M140 plinths for about £4200.
While I wait for M140’s to sell, I plugged them into a 25yr old Yamaha amp in a smaller room and boy do they sound good. These speakers never cease to impress me. Now i’m in 2 minds about selling them

This is exactly the reason why I decided not to go from Aktiv M140’s, to Aktiv Akubarik’s.
The M140’s just ‘keep on giving’, especially with improvements made upstream.

With the 360s, custom colour doesn't cost more money, just more time. It's been 8.5 weeks since the order was placed, with an expected ship in 12 weeks. I spoke with the dealer last week. I did ask about the problems with the cabinet maker. I was told that this would not impact current products, just upcoming products will be delayed.ashhadk wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 7:56 pmHey @akamatsu, any word on your order? Still nothing on mine. I had to wait year for my car but this seems harder for some reason. One lesson I’ve learnt is that I should have kept the previous kit until I got the new stuff. I have no music at home now . Oh well, lesson learnt.akamatsu wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 8:04 pmWith the 360s, custom colour doesn't cost more money, just more time. What’s going on with the cabinet makers? My dealer mentioned that it’s with them but is there some complexity at that stage?

One of the reasons that I decided against upgrading the Akubariks was the downtime. I just didn't want to be without music (on the main system) for weeks.ashhadk wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 5:34 amI had to wait year for my car but this seems harder for some reason. I'm not sure what's going on with the cabinet maker, other than there was a problem causing delays. Again, it shouldn't affect existing products and existing orders. New products, e.g. Majik speakers, might be affected.

I feel your pain. The wait is very frustrating, especially as it's impossible getting advance delivery information from Linn. (I've been through the process of Akubarik modules having to go back to the factory and being without music twice in the last six months - once for PSU repair, and most recently for the Organik upgrade).ashhadk wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 5:34 am

However it will be worth the wait. You have a great deal, especially with Organik which takes Akubarik performance into a different league relative to Katalyst. As regards ethernet cables for the Exakt links, I disagree with @akamatsu in preferring Blue Jeans Cat 6A (which is shielded) to any of the unshielded cables (this was discussed at length on a Wam thread). It's worth experimenting in due course, meanwhile your new speakers are going to sound great straight out of the box with any connection!

Comforting to hear your stories! They were supposed to be a birthday present to myself on the 26th, dealer is being super kind and has promised that he’ll give me an equally impressive loaner system for that weekend atleast so that’s a bit exciting
On the Ethernet cable, he’s suggesting going with a AQ Pearl cable but I’m thinking of just going ahead and ordering Blue Jeans. They’ll quite a bit cheaper and do a great job. Thinking if I should order Gaia ii’s in the mean while to fit under the Akubarik’s. The old ones can go under my REL’s as they won’t hold the new weight.

Re: Linn Akubarik - opinions needed
I believe AQ Pearl is Cat 7 which is not recommended by Linn for Ekakt link. I can confirm from experience that BJC Cat 6A (and other BJ cables for that matter) are better than the AudioQuest Cinnamon - supposedly two steps up from Pearl - I previously used throughout my Exakt Akubarik system (including from Urika II in the LP12).ashhadk wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:08 pm Thanks @akamatsu & @vincent

My Akubariks work best (in a room having wooden floorboards) with spikes on inexpensive metal pucks (pic). I tried Gaia feet and didn't like them at all (I thought they had the effect of smearing bass and mids). So I would counsel strongly against ordering now. You can always borrow some later on home-dem once you have a clear idea of how the new speakers sound in your room with your equipment etc.
P.S. Edit. I recall the discussion about the relative merits of Cat 6 (unshielded) vs Cat 6A (shielded) BJC centred on whether shielding was beneficial or detrimental. I reasoned the former, @akamatsu the latter. We thought that the presence/absence of shielding was the only difference in the construction of the two cables, so must account for our opposed preferences.

For the record, I use BJC Cat 6 (unshielded) for all Exaktlink and Ethernet needs. I tried all three of the BJC cables. I prefer the sound quality of the Cat 6. It seems to resolve better. More music comes through.

Re: Linn Akubarik - opinions needed
I'm very happy with the Gaia II's under my Akubariks (unlike Vincent). It depends a lot on the floor though, how big an improvement they are. For me the improvement was much more noticeable, when I had a fairly unstable/swinging floor. I can also recommend the BlueJeans ethernet cables, they replaced Audioquest Cinnamons in my system, with quite a noticeable improvement, albeit not used as Exakt cables.

Re: Linn Akubarik - opinions needed
Blue Jeans Cables, and for that matter Connectix, Ethernet cables are simply better (from an engineering perspective) than AQ cables. This is easily verified by measurement. In the UK, many boutique hifi cable companies avoid calling their streaming cables Ethernet cables, to avoid the wrath of the Advertising Standards Authority. BJC assembles and Connectix manufactures genuine Ethernet cables. The way the cables are terminated is important with good quality plastic connectors being preferable to metal ones if you want to lower noise by preserving Ethernet’s inherent galvanic isolation.ashhadk wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:08 pm
