Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
I’ll need to pick up some bread there tomorrow - I love some of their fresh baked loaves - I’ll grab a bottle if I can.
Update - yes, very nice and great value. Thanks for the recommendation.

OK, here we go. This is one of my favourite affordable (€ 13,-) German white wines, the grape is the not so well known variety Scheurebe. A dry but very aromatic wine with hints of lime and passion fruit.

Tre Sorelle Lugana, a delicious white wine, that goes well with fish or shrimps. Most Luganas tend to be rather bland and uninteresting, but this one is crisp with nice mineral touch, that adds complexity. Price between € 9,- (special offer) and 14,-

Birgit Braunstein - Chardonnay Leithaberg (Burgenland, Austria, Price: around € 22,-): Many turn their noses up at Chardonnay, in many cases it's justified. But there's a new wave of chardonnays sweeping into the market, which are decidedly more complex. I urge you to try this one, if you can find it.

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
Just picked up 6 of these for £5.43 each. A very light red, very potable. Sainsbury's have it on offer anyway, and with the extra 25% off for six it's really an offer you can't refuse!

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
Another Lidl special. Was on offer for £1 off normal £6.99 last week so gave it a go. Very dry, French Minervois (a grape I was unaware of). Extremely good, as you can see. 2 bottles finished off quick sharpish

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
I heard from someone in the wine business that Oregon produces the best pinot noir wine, as they grow the best pinot noir grapes.

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
Decent PN is not a cheap high yield grape to produce.
Washington state makes good Pinot as well. Prices can range greatly.
I find Pinot to be a great versatile food wine. It can be lower in alcohol and generally lighter. Switching to other reds can be really "heavy".
The danger with these wines is that they are so interesting and you can keep upping your "budget" by a dollar or two here, a dollar or two there, and before you know it you have less cash for albums or audio gizmos...

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
One of my go-to wines is the light German Rheinhessen PN but I only buy it when on offer. Never pay more than £8, usually keep it to the bargains around 6 or 7, or below. Low price doesn't necessarily mean plonk.
So I have enough for music every month

Re: What Wine Are You Drinking ?
I have never really investigated PN until Aldi had one as a wine of the week a month or so a go. For £5 I thought I would give it a go and it was delicious - I had it in my head that PN was a heavy wine but this was very light. Went back for some more and they had all gone! I will keep an eye out for your recommendation @timster

Bacalhoa JP Azeitao: An inexpensive (€ 4,80), Portuguese white wine, that performs well above its price class. Made from local grapes Fernao Pires and Moscatel Graúdo, this is excellent with fish and seafood, or just sipping on the terrace.
