New Agnes Obel Record Deformity?

Post by briardsrock »

I just purchased two spectacular Agnes Obel LPS:
Aventine
Citizen of Glass

The music is beautiful, mystical, somber, soul searching, complex and last but not least, beautiful.

And, the recording is spectacular on both.

However, on Citizen of Glass, right as the last song on side A is beginning there is a loud TICK and the stylus won’t go over it. So, even though I had cleaned before playing, I examined, saw nothing, and then cleaned and played again.

TICK is still there, maybe slightly less pronounced, but the stylus can’t get beyond it.

Is it possible there is a chunk of vinyl stuck in the groove?

Thoughts??

It could well be a master fault (a friends test pressing showed up a similar issue on the end of a side) or it may be a 'blob' that somehow ended up on the surface.

The only real way to tell is to return it as faulty and try another copy
