I wonder if they know what they are doing.
I’ve never come across so much obsolescence and product replacement it seems like it’s always overtaking itself.

They designed an Utopik PS for the current Klimax DSM. Luckily for us it could identical used in the old Klimax DS+DSM, Akurate DS, DSM, Exaktbox, Kontrol and CD, Majik DS and some others.

if it is true that by June there will be a new amplifier, later on maybe a little hope for Akudorik to have Utopik, maybe. One thing I am sure of: beyond Colin's kind and polite response, Linn will not make Utopik available for amplifiers because they do NOT want Utopik to be available.

Apparently there’s a dealer day soon (end of April) so some news may well be forthcoming…..if I were Linn, I would certainly do something on Utopik for older units (Klimax for sure) as it’s a easy win financially, there will be many owners doing that.

I see my Linn Akurate DSM as the end of the road in terms of upgrades — to go further, I’d need to consider a Selekt or a second-hand Klimax. I wouldn’t buy a Utopik for the Akurate DSM even if it became available, simply because there’s no Organik option. And without a Utopik streamer, I don’t see much point in adding Utopik to my Klimax Twin either. I was really hoping a second-hand black, old-style Klimax DSM with Utopik and Organik might turn up at a reasonable price.

I'm really puzzled as to why there is still no Utopik upgrade for Radikal or KEB! Is there a technical reason that is specific to these products, or is it that they found that Utopik did not usefully improve these products? I know that Linn claim that they will only introduce an upgrade if it results in a noticeable improvement in the sound quality of a product. I realize that Radikal is quite different functionally to a DS/DSM and may have some unique power supply requirements but why did Akurate Exaktbox 6 &10 get the Utopik upgrade but not KEB?!? Maybe KEB with 6 channels of Organik has unique power supply requirements?

The KEB is the odd one out. Especially as it's a current product. I can see no reason why they designed Utopik for the AEBs but not the Klimax. It's very odd indeed.

Radikal is a different kettle of fish that may have other design constraints.

It is an easy reason, the Utopik PS for the Akurate Exaktbox is identical to the one designed for NG Klimax DSM and a lot others (/Slimline). For the KEB they must design a special one. It looks the same as in the Radikal (/Mini)

I thought that but they managed it for the pizza box KDS/M.

Thanks - if it were through a UK dealer then I grab it straight away. £9k would be fine if I could trade in my Akurate DSM.
