LOL, I would only travel that far for Springsteen.

To be honest you could just about see the band amongst the lighting, stage mist, dent sweat and empty plastic beer glasses. Still a great night though 8)

The Rev. Willie G leading the power trio including Messrs. Hill and Beard on 7 April.
Very good performance of Catfish Blues, and particularly hair-raising times when the bass guitar and kick drum synched and hit resonance.

They did lay down two rules.
Rule 1: No drinking or smoking during gospel songs.
Rule 2: No gospel songs.[/list]

The Rev. Willie G havin' a good time...

GRAHAM PARKER & BRINSLEY SCHWARZ AT THE EPSTEIN THEATRE LIVERPOOL
Image
ENGLISH SINGER-SONGWRITER GRAHAM PARKER IS PERHAPS BEST KNOWN AS THE LEAD SINGER OF THE GREAT BRITISH BAND GRAHAM PARKER & THE RUMOUR.

Parker's energetic performances - along with the wittily class-conscious spirit of his critically acclaimed debut album Howlin' Wind - preceded the arrival of punk rock and new wave music. His quirky-blue-collar image is often believed to be a major influence on the public persona of many British musicians, most notably Elvis Costello, Paul Weller and Joe Jackson.

Graham will be joined on stage by fellow band member Brinsley Schwarz.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH 2016
DOORS: 6.30PM
START: 7.30PM
TICKETS: £21.50
ALL PRICES INCLUDE 50P RESTORATION LEVY.

Me and Scooter will be there :smt023

2016 has been a great year for live music. So far we have seen Joe Jackson at the London Palladium, Jeff Lynne's ELO at the Genting Arena, Elton John at Grace Road and last night Seal at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. If anyone has tickets for his UK tour you will not be disappointed. Fantastic live as always.

Scooter and I had the pleasure of seeing these two great artists at the Epstein last night. It was an unplugged gig with Parker on acoustic guitar and Schwartz backing on lead guitar and vocals. It was a very warm and intimate performance which was very well received by a packed audience. When you have cut as many albums as Parker and his back log is vast it must have been hard to choose a set list, but he did enough here to satisfy his fans. His banter with the audience was superb as he talked about each track and gave a great insight to his work. Schwartz assisted him admirably with some fine guitar work and he did a track from his new album. A great performance which left me and Keith in a good mood in the pub afterwards. As usual with Keith the talk was great and his musical knowledge flowed out I also got a great insight to his new Exakt upgrade which sounds superb, beginning to feel quite envious now. All in all a great night out. 8)
Next gigs
Steve Mason
Emily Barker Applewood Road
