Sennheiser Orpheus Headphones £35,700

Post by Dan Steel »

Sennheiser is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the launch of another Orpheus: the HE1060/HEV1060. Development started around 10 years ago, and it’s a formidable successor with a price tag to match.
How much? It costs €50,000. Which roughly translates to £35,700. The world’s most expensive pair of headphones. Can a headphone system ever justify that price?

Funny you should say that.
One of Peters clients in China has a couple of women with white gloves who are employed to just put records on his LP12 and turn them over in his music/system room when he has a listening session.
I've got some pictures somewhere.

So have I 8) - It was quite a few years ago now, but still the memories are very strong - Being chauffeured around in a Bentley with lucky charms in the front windscreen and some crazy tricked up BMW sportscar doing some quite substantial speeds along some Chinese motorways. Visited some interesting local cultural places and got taken for a ride in a serious speed boat. It was quite unusual to be going out from the Chinese coast to buzz some of the islands which were under the control of Taiwan (The West) !!

I was accommodated in five star hotels for the entire time and even the Presidential Suite of a five star hotel at one point! My hosts were so kind and generous even though I couldn't understand what they were saying (without an interpreter) :D Happy days, happy memories.

I had a really great time installing a full Se spec LP12 for them too, which of course was the reason for being there, but also trying to extract more from the Krell/Dynaudio system that had been installed by the local dealer.

Plenty of pics if anyone is interested? - I can put them on the Travels thread... Some amazing experiences in an amazing country!

Anyway, as far as I know, there were three ladies who sharing the responsibility of the system and they are pictured below:

Peter,
I remember that trip well. :smt023
I've just spent over a hour looking for the pictures of you and Joe's friend man handling those speakers into position and the the ones of the diamond encrusted Bentley interior.
I think they must be on one of my old windoz HDs along with the many room and the high rise building work pictures that was going on around that complex.
