Afraid not, all these points to give away as well..!
To be fair I don’t imagine many to guess right as it’s a fairly new wood to be used in the high end cabinetry industry as it’s so expensive and I was lucky to get this.
I’ll keep you guessing for a bit longer before some clues.

Obviously as quarter cut not crown, that’s your first clue.

I was going to say wenge but it looks like a tighter grain so I didn't say.

i have a Wenge plinth and there are similarities with the plinth you have posted but there are also differences too.

I have just googled panga panga wood - Its closely related to Wenge wood so perhaps you are right .........

It’s actually much better in the flesh and if I was honest it’s probably one of the best I have made thus far.
So the big reveal is that it’s actually olive although not one that I have seen before and now can’t remember the exact name but of the same genus!
Bugger to make as it’s so oily.
And yes, it does sound different ( runs away and hides ).
