We've been thinking that sometimes the bottom end can be a little bit too shallow and sometimes lost in the mix so rather than blame Rudy Van Gelder it was decided that it was time to open up the other end of the system and remove hopefully the bottleneck that had appeared.
Floor standers always scared me a bit as the room isn't too large but I had always got good punch from my previous small speakers and at one time tried B&W floor standers but it didn't matter what I did they just seemed cut off at the top end and had a mono boom for bass.
I've come to the conclusion over many recent upgrades that less is more and the least complicated the signal path then ultimately the results should be better.
I started to obsess about the number of components in crossovers and came to a conclusion that some are far too complicated compensating for perhaps less accurate drive units now ive been reading into the Clarity caps and Mundorf component world I'll get there eventually Kudos speakers and minimalist high quality manufactured drive units and components.
I was very lucky to be able to have a pair in my home for a week and have to say by the second day if not sooner I realised I'd not only decided to dig into albums I previously thought too bright or lacking depth or maybe not a great mix were playing with consummate ease giving a very much more fulfilling and relaxing experience.
In fact not only had my record collection grown by a large percentage so very much had the range from the speakers no more half shut eyes sometimes with vibes or looking for the rich bass lines in the acoustic jazz rhythm section.
I know about the run in process especially with mechanical moving parts but if these do get better it's by far a bonus as the signature high detail snappy and tuneful bass and sweet crisp treble not to mention the space round the instruments it's all going fantastic we love them.
