Hello...it's me.

Post by Blackmass »

Hi,
Some of you may remember me from the Linn forum or even Pink Fish Media? I hadn’t posted for some time on the Linn Forum and only sporadically on PFM.

My system hadn’t changed for a number of years (maybe 5 or 6 years?) until March of this year. I saw the light (Laffin! ) and decided to sell my LP12 (for a number of reasons) and looked at something else. I now have a Well Tempered Versalex and we’re both very happy. My system is still Linn based (CD, Pre and Power amp) with speakers by Roksan.

I’ve been very anti streaming/downloads until I went to the demo of the Well Tempered. The dealer used the Naim Nova and I was very impressed and surprised how one box could do so much.

So why have I joined a Linn based forum I hear you cry? :smt017

Now the Linn forum is no more I thought this would be the best place to look for info and advice on what Linn are offering on the streaming side of things. I’ll be having a demo in a few weeks of products from Linn and Naim.

Anyway I thought I’d just say hi.

Cheers
Rob

Welcome Rob. Great to have you here.

LINN based? Not really. We might have started off as self imposed exiles from the LINN forum but here the Music is far more important than its delivery system.

Hi James,
Thanks for the warm welcome.

I must admit to being out the loop for a good while. The last time I paid a visit here was a few years ago not long after it was formed. As touched upon in my opening post I’ve not been interested/obsessing about Hi-Fi for years.

Cheers

Welcome Rob. This is the place for Linn forum refugees!

BTW if you're now considering streaming, have a listen to the Naim ND555. It's nningly good. When mine arrives I have a suspicion it will render my LP12 redundant. There, said it!

OK favourite bands/artists…

Cocteau Twins
David Bowie
Radiohead
Grizzly Bear
Johnny Marr
Echo and the Bunnymen
PJ Harvey
Stone Roses
Pixies

I do like heavier ff too like Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Big Black, Led Zeppelin and Hendrix. I listen to a little Classic and some Jazz but not very often. I like Northern Soul and Motown but I’m no connoisseur.

Cheers

As it happens I popped in to see Clive last week. I’ll be going to him for a demo in the next few weeks. I’ll be looking at the Naim streamers and integrated amps and something from Linn. I’ll have a listen to the Atom too. I'll be looking at the entry level ff. I'm passed spending loads of money on Hi-Fi.

After the demo with the Nova it changed the way I look at Hi-Fi and my system. I couldn’t imagine going the ‘one box’ route until I heard (and saw) the Nova but the Uniti range is very appealing.
