Re: headphone amp
Hi Ray.
You have a really nice system and I don't think I could bring myself to plug headphones into it.
But for a chummy conversation the only time I use such things is sometimes now when SWMBO wants to watch football as the big Sony is in the living room too.
I have a ripped selection of CDs
that I have put on my iPhone and iPod touches lossless and after quite a bit of taste and try I have a pair of B&W C5 IEMs.

I wouldn't use cans on my main system I would rather compromise then enjoy the system in all it's glory.
Although I have had a couple of different pairs of Kans in my system in the past.
KR Jim.

Are you any good at burning fingers soldering? I've built the PhonoClone3 and its a gem. The Sapphire is supposed to be great too.

Re: headphone amp
I work with live electric every day, sadly I have hands like a cows tits. I have the knowledge but just cannot solder. Tried it and died, a mass of molten mess. I understand all the diagram and schematic bits, its the physical bit that buggers me.

I agree with you entirely if I want an album over the past forty odd years I have always if poss bought the vinyl then a lot of the more modern jazz I like was only ever available on CD or Dudload.
The only streaming I do is an iPod touch with the smoothjazz.com internet radio app that I helped beta for via Arcam r dock and Linn silvers.
I only play Vinyl or Cd don't do downloads.
Sorry for the naughty digital compromise words too.

Re: headphone amp
Ray,
Have a look on Naim dealers sites for a pre-loved/ex dem Headline.

They come up quite frequently.
Also worth keeping a eye out on pink fish.
Headphone listening can be really nice but no point in going really cheap because it can end up as a false economy when you end up not using it.
Same goes for headphones.
You need both to have a synergy with the rest of your system.
Another good option would be sell or PX all your boxes against a Supernait 2 it has a headphone socket and its DR'd.

Chord Electronics DAVE at home and Hugo on the move.
If I were buying now I’d go Mojo with Poly.
