Linn's 'most affordable' route into the world of the iconic Sondek LP12 turntable is all the more convenient now its Majik deck is packaged with Clearaudio-sourced Krane arm
If I were considering a Majik LP12 and read this.
I might not be so enthusiastic.
To coin a phrase "damning with faint praise".
Too many these days are in the expectation of plug n play.
Turntable - Linn LP12, Karousel, Keel, Ekos SE/1, Kandid, K-Radikal 2, Urika.
Amplifier - Naim Supernait 3
CD Player - Naim CD5si
Speakers - Kudos X3
Cables- Kudos KS-1 Speaker Cable, Linn Silver Interconnects
Support - Target TT4.
Then, it's simply a case of taking it out of the box, putting the inner platter on, then the drive belt, then the outer platter, setting the arm's counterweight and you're away.
Really?
James
Fluted Afro LP12, Khan, KEEL, Karousel, Urika, Radikal-2 A (with Allium Skin Mods), EKOS SE/1, sKale, DVXX-2mkII
NAIM CD 5si with Marigo Lab Aida CD Mat ThePre, ZAP 250, Kudos Super 20's
Don’t want veer off topic but it’s getting nonsense these days that everything has to be so simple.
Dealers must be tearing there hair out after years of having to and going the extra mile to give optimal service and performance being dissed in this way.
All that is going to happen is people left to their own devices with throw the baby out with the bath water as it’s more than they can be arsed with.
The current lack of support for dealers doing another new top end turntable have had no dem stock but others have been sent overseas with instructions missing and expected to suck it and see as the customer seems left to it.
i've just read one has just buggered his cartridge setting it up.
Rant over.

I've just read about that cart mishap - the guy is remarkably phlegmatic about the whole thing. His other comments suggest a lack of knowledge generally around set up - again a bit of a surprise considering the turntable package in question is £16.5K
LP12 - Klimax Radikal 2/Urika, Harban Plinth, Karousel, Keel, Karmen, Ekos SE, Skale, Lyra Atlas
CD Players - Roksan Caspian M2 CD Player, dCS Puccini CD Player + Scarlatti Master Clock
Amps - KK/1(D), Klimax Twin (D)
Speakers - Kudos S20 A's in Santos Rosewood
Cables - Linn Silver RCA & K200 speaker cable

Where is the post you’re referring to? I can’t find it.
BTW, unless Naim has already increased the price, I think it’s actually £16k. There, I’ve saved any potential buyer £500 - they can go buy more records!

I presume Jim has now referred you to the relevant post Clive .......

I have just read the relevant series of posts from the beginning. It seems the guy was a bit inexperienced and rushed the whole setup, particularly regarding the tone arm.

Absolutely. That was the point I was making in my post. Anybody who buys a Solstice and has that level of inexperience needs help from a suitably competent person.

Don’t worry, Dapper, there’s no way I could live with a Solstice in my house, regardless how cheap it is or how good it might sound. It’s too fugly for my liking.
BTW why not introduce yourself through the introductions thread? Tell us about your system and which artists and styles of music you like.
