Whatever Happened To Chris Frankland of the Flat Response
Hi guys,
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying your systems. I just got a heads up from one of my close friends who runs a nice Linn LP12 Naim NAC72 /Hicap/ 250 and Linn Kan Mk1 speakers. Something of a landmark system from the 80's, although everything is serviced, and the LP12 is a new model with Karousel bearing and Hercules PS.
The quality of the music making is very satisfying and proves a point that if a system is good then time will always show it to equally good, if looked after. We both used to read the same HiFi magazines of the Linn Naim era and Popular Hi Fi with Chris Frankland as Editor was one of my personal favourites, but then he started the Flat Response and suddenly it became a cult magazine. He has now popped up again and we hear how it all started. Coffee Break looming..............................
I bought a lot of his test albums as I found I loved his taste in music. One of these is still my personal favourite of all time. Ben Sidran "The Cat and The Hat" I have a Record company demo version Not For Resale, cut at The Mastering Lab by Doug Sax and boy, is it a workout for your system.
Anyway...............read on.

Used to scan through it while at the dealer's a long time ago. Subscribed once it became HiFi Review but gave up after CF left. Always enjoyed Derek Whittington's musical taste but not CF's. For me it served as confirmation bias that I'd chosen the right gear, still feel the same way. Thanks for the memories Eddie (and TomTom).
