TA have released a record clamp/weight or whatever you call it called the “Evenstar” for the princely sum of £270. I’ve never had to use one on my Sondek and Linn have never felt the need need to promote one. I won’t be buying it, I would sooner spend the £270 on albums. One for cash cows methinks.

As much as I respect the other Tiger Paws products, its not for me either.
I suspect (though do not know) that the compression of the felt mat that this gives will negate the advantage of siding the mat.
... and what about bearing wear?
... and suspension setup?

I asked the same question in another place and was told that it only weighs 118g, so maybe not such a problem. But it adds to the faff of playing an LP and there’s enough of that already. That being said, Peter sells it, so that adds a degree of comfort.
Irrelevant of the weight it’s always been a no no
It’s another faff to cause an accident.
Must use Pyramid energy to overcome the advice for years that record weights and or clamp on an LP 12 is Taboo for all sorts of levelling and suspension interference not to mention a killer for bearing wear.
The Karousel still uses the the same single point spindle and thrust plate as the Cirkus.
One minute it’s Tranquility to lift the weight next it’s the Ashtray to add weight.
It looks like icing a birthday cake with.
Every product has its punter.
If I was a dealer I’d be selling them too.££££££££££

so its hardly a "weight" and more like the stabiliser it is described as.

There’s a review of the Evenstar here. I’m not sure I’d fancy the added faff that it introduces, but I’d like to see and hear one.
My interest is piqued, although I am not sure that I would feel happy removing it from a spinning record without an accident

After reading that review it enforces my opinion.
Too much faff especially as reading this it’s a stop and start the turntable every side.
I don’t like the klutzy look and it would spoil my relaxed enjoyment seeing that with its odd shape
“ Why” catching my peripheral vision going round.
If now it’s not a weight then how do we know it’s not rattling about on the record causing more problem than good like any loose part on the deck “ Badly fitted top plate for example “ obviously won’t be a problem with their third party upgrades the tie in continues.
Surely if it’s a snug fit then it must exert some kind of strain while fitting or removing.
I was always told no way on an lp12 by experts so the wheel has been reinvented.

If it was essential Linn would have produced one by now. It’s like when Ivor was asked “What’s the best rack to play your Sondek on.”
He replied “Just sit it on the top of your sideboard it will sound great”
It’s all to get inside the so called rich hifi know all heads… you must have this and you must have that. Spend yer money on the music instead.

I have reached the point where I don't really care one way or the other to be honest. Each to there own; give it a go if you really want to and have the time and money to do a bit of 'faffing' about. I suspect that those that want to try/buy it will do so any way no matter what anybody else says or puts forward as thought out logical reasons as to why it won't work. Me; I won't be indulging ......

A while back I put together an Ariston RD80SL / Linn Basik+ /AT95E Paratrace for my neice.
It was a late variant RD80 with the threaded spindle and the screw on record clamp.
Without the clamp it sounded fine. With the clamp the sound was dull and muddy.
So no, this is an ABSOLUTE no no for me.
Oh and at £270 who the hell are TA tryng to kid?

Also Karik III / Numerik, and Kremlin. All sitting on Söund Örganisatiön shelves (2) and tables (4). Okki Nokki RCM.
