The War on Drugs were really good. Caught The Editors before hand they were good as well. Two highlights for myself were Tinariwen and Young Fathers. We had a birthday party on Saturday afternoon/evening so missed a lot and I’m still going through on iPlayer. Warpaint on the list and found Weyes Blood so she’s on the list. Only one caught late Saturday when we got home was Lana Del Rey, came on half an hour late (doing her hair) and had the power pulled at midnight with about a third of her set missed. Very disappointed with that. I also think the sound this year at times was the worst I’ve heard. The Foo Fighters sound was abysmal.
One good thing I found last night watching Elton John was watching on iPlayer was the option to watch in ultra high definition, the picture quality was excellent.
Forgot The Lightning Seeds, great as always.

I have no Elton John in my collection but he has been there all of my life in the mainstream and out of respect I thought I’d watch his last UK performance.
The band and himself were great real musicians belting it out in a very professional manner to make the occasion.
It’s not as if he needs the money so that isn’t the bait he was saying goodbye.
He knows his limitations and when to stop and it seems the choice is now.
He has to stop sometime and I thought held it together much better than others that are even more past their sell by date.
I think he timed it right.

I don’t thinking he is stopping full stop, just stopping in the U.K. and Europe. I believe he is carrying on with his residency in Vegas, which seems to the thing for older bands.

Thanks for that.

I reckon thin black stuff sounds better, or at least no worse, than 180g black stuff. Controversial!

I have never really liked Nick Cave and never listened to this before, despite its popularity, but it is a jolly fine album indeed.
