They think they know best without listening to what people want.
They should practice what they preach “ Just Listen “
Well done with the designs Vincent top notch.

I think you should send that to the Helpdesk.

Thank you for your e-mail
The hinges on the LP12-50 are different from the standard hinges and made specifically for this special edition turntable. The hole spacing is different where it mounts to the plinth.

Looks like it to me as well. Why make every part of the LP12 50 unique to just that product? All that R&D, CNC programming and tooling gone to waste
Hi JamesMr Onion wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 6:03 pm Dare I say its cheaper to machine if the collar is not part of the KEEL?
... but 4 bolts? That seems crazy

Now I feel really depressedCoyote Jim wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 6:35 pm Maybe this is the same as new Naim classic it’s all change.![]()
No need to feel depressed. After all, your turntable sounded excellent before the LP12-50 was announced and I expect it still sounds excellent. Go and put a record on and wallow in the music and forget about this visually odd anniversary model!Mr Onion wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 10:00 amNow I feel really depressedCoyote Jim wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 6:35 pm Maybe this is the same as new Naim classic it’s all change.![]()
Exactly, but what I meant was if this is going to be the basis for the 'normal' LP12, obviously nothing will be backwards compatible with us with the 'old' LP12 so whats going to happen with the spares? I can't see LINN carrying two lines of spare parts can you? Servicing will obviously still be OK with Peter but what if he needs parts that are no longer available?
From what I can work out all the basic guts are the same. Bearing , inner and outer hub and springs and grommets.Mr Onion wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 11:55 amExactly, but what I meant was if this is going to be the basis for the 'normal' LP12, obviously nothing will be backwards compatible with us with the 'old' LP12 so whats going to happen with the spares? Its the same with NAIM with the new Power Supply not being backwards compatible with products which use a HiCap or Supercap
(yes I am in a gloom and doom mood, but blame LINN)

I hardly think everything will disappear as linn say they will always support the deck.
This is Ltd edition and I’m sure some of the tweaks might trickle down to new standard components.
Mind you they said that when they did amps then told me to bin mine when packed in.![]()
Nothing to stop us buying up future service gear.Wenge1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 1:05 pmSpot on Jim - but I'm not worried about the LP12 going the same way as the amps did. Apart from the cart nothing else really goes wrong (wears out) and I think that if it does it will remain fixable (by someone anyway) for long after we all shuffle of this mortal coil ........Coyote Jim wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 12:34 pmFrom what I can work out all the basic guts are the same.
