Roksan Nima "torque setting"

Post by blue-eyed son »

Hi nice people!

I have LP12 with Roksan Nima.
Can you please somehow advise me, how tight should be the arm collar nut?

I know this would hard to describe, but let's try something like
- finger tight and just nipped up a little
- go soft with the 32 wrench
- fairly tight
.
.
.
- Godzilla tight

In the past, the collar came loose after dealer set it up, so I tightened it, but maybe I was to heavy handed. I've recently installed Karousel, so I also checked if the collar is still tight (with 32mm wrench), and maybe I am now really in Godzilla territory.

Would it be worth opening the deck again and start with loose nut, hear how it sounds and only fasten it more if needed?

How does music sound if the collar is too tight, too loose or just right?

Thanks and BR

Hi
I’m never a believer of all this torque nonsense and to be honest none of these are torqued by my dealer.
Some people go to the extreme in the pseudoscience of musicality but really you should just go tight to the finger tip with the key then at most a quarter turn.
It cases like Ekos etc it’s best not to go too tight as nothing to do with the music it can damage the arm pillar.
If you want to listen test then too loose results in a muddy sound and set up compromise after time and use.
Just right smooth tuneful bass with a crisp top end.
Too tight get the wallet out. :smt023
