Server Downtime 26th November

Post by The Kaptain »

I have just heard from our web hosts that they have moved to a new hosting facility in East London and now will be upgrading the Kabins Server itself. To achieve this there will be some downtime of between 5 and 30 minutes on November 26th between 0300 and 0600 UTC.

You should not notice any issues after the upgrade as Kualo have tested everything, but you never know.

for those interested, this is the techi bit
Here’s what’s coming:

⚡ Blazing-Fast Performance: We’re switching to state-of-the-art AMD CPUs, which boast an insane clock speed of 5.7GHz, and super-fast 100% NVMe-based storage. These enhancements will significantly increase website performance.

⬆ Latest Software Stack: The servers will operate on the latest versions of MySQL 8, PHP 8 (along with secured older versions) and CloudLinux 8, ensuring optimal efficiency and compatibility with modern applications.

🔒 PCI Compliance: We're fortifying security across the board, phasing out insecure connections to align with PCI standards.

The new servers mean faster running for everything from MySQL queries to PHP executions, which is just what your busy web apps need. Enhanced security through PCI compliance will additionally help ensure we meet the best possible security standards.

With a couple of exceptions it appears that the move has been fairly seamless. One issue that will effect most of you is that the email notifications do not appear to be functioning correctly.

Fingers crossed its just a temporary glitch
