Adding to my collection of historical artifacts...Santa has blessed me with;
Focal Stellia running balanced out of a Astell & Kern Kann Max portable audio player.
Looking forward to many a Christmas season night in front of the fireplace, being serenaded by Sade and not having to get up to flip an lp.
I might even retire my 40+ year old Sony Cassette Walkman.
Original 1978 Fluted Afromosia LP12, Ekos 2, Lyra Kleos SL and lots of other stuff from the 70's that still work fine.

Thanks, it's a whole different musical experience to listen through the Focals...I used the unbalanced cable at first (until the 4.4mm to 4 pin XLR adapter arrived)...I am definitely in the balanced camp. The Kann Max doubles the Vrms from 6 to 12 volts when you go balanced. After adjusting for the volume change, I was hooked on the black silence from the lowered noise floor...just Sade whispering in my ears...and Alison Krauss, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon (for starters).
