What next for Akubariks?

Post by The Snug »

In a recent post by the Kaptain, albeit regarding Utopik for Radikal, I spotted this quotation: “LINN are concentrating on the Utopik for all digital, amplification and crossovers first, then move on to the Radikal, but the timeframe is fluid.”

I wonder whether this means an Organik / Utopik upgrade is being planned for our beloved Akubariks. It would be nice to think so.

Hope so. That’s the only thing that would get me to shell out more of the hard earned beyond what I am already committed to.

Hopefully you mean unlikely for Akurate Exaktbox rather than Akubariks....

I would fully expect Utopik for the Akubariks. Perhaps if the next wave includes amps, it will happen then. As for Organik, even though I was told that a top Linn engineer said it would be available, I have my doubts, and if it does become available, when would it happen? I think that Linn will release a replacement for the Akubariks before Organik for Akubariks would become available.

The other thing about that is, if they do do it for Akubariks (and I assume 'doriks), why not the rest of the Akurate range?
I share you suspicion that they will be replaced with Selekt speakers first, and akus will be allowed to die along with the rest.

Speculation, speculation. Best to wait and see. As we know, the Utopik was quickly made for the Akurate level streamers and the ExaKtboxes. I was blessed to be able to upgrade both components with a Utopik power supply: first the AEDSM, then the ExaKtbox 10. If I can summarize the improvements, If the Utopik in the DSM made the vocals 3-D statues that were clearly cut, the Utopik in the ExaKtbox polished to pristine smoothness those statues, and moved them several feet apart of one another.

In discussion with a Linn Representative a few moths back, he implied that Utopik power supplies are in the works for Akurate Amps.

That will be fun :smt020
