Organik for Akubarik

Post by Moomintroll »

Jon Nelson(Ripcaster) has just posted this on Facebook. Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, and it’s too early for April 1st, surely?

£7K apparently - https://ripcaster.co.uk/Linn_Organik_DA ... r_Akubarik

Upgrade requires the pods to be returned to Linn and is just for integrated Exakt models.

Unlikely at that price, plus that’s another upgrade they can sell.

UPDATE - Ripcaster say Utopik NOT included.

It is only 12% more then katalyst upgrade for akubarik.
And the akubarik itself is not longer on the march price list. Same with majik 109.

Appears to be quite a bargain (in Linn terms, anyway) at £7000, given that the Klimax 350 Organik upgrade is nearly twice the price at £12960.

Good that I started saving last year, when the rumors started that Organik might become available in 2024.

Seeing as the Akubariks are now also a legacy product there is hope still for Akurate Exaktboxes then.
Hope is good and necessary for life. So I'm sticking with it....

It is on the Linn website, so it must be true. I'll call my dealer in the morning to see what the score is.

Yes it is true! I had the opportunity to be early in the queue, so my spines are already back at the factory, due for re-fitting (I hope) w/b 8th April.

The cost @7k does seem very reasonable for five channels or Organik per speaker, and well worth the gamble without an A/B comparison. Of course there will be a new Selekt speaker at some time in the future, but that's likely to cost a lot more than the discontinued Akubarik.

Will report findings soon!

I look forward to your findings. I am wary of being in the vanguard for an upgrade that can't be heard in an A/B dem first, so I appreciate you leading the way. Besides which I need to replenish the coffers after the spend to get the free Utopik upgrade recently. Who knows, if and when the Utopik upgrade for a Radikal2 hits the streets Linn may be having a promotion and it could be two birds with one stone. Anyway, do let us know what you think when you have your Akubariks back in action.

Imagine if Linn offered the Organik upgrade for Aktive Akubariks? The only diffence would be a bottom bracket for the ethernet connection in addition to the minboard?

In January price list the Katalyst + Exakt upgrade was available (13k [existing 3k array] and 26k €[new 3k array]). So if still available for minimum approx. 14k € with the Organik board, even it is not longer on the new price list.

Phoned my dealer mid morning and sorted. Rear of Akubariks off tomorrow and back to Linn. Luckily he has the crate already so don't have to wait for Linn to send one. Great timing as we're away next week. No idea how long it will take but looking forward to the change. The best upgrade I've ever done is the utopik so hoping it's as big as that.

Good for you. RSNs have to be booked in, so Service aren’t flooded with work. I’d expect a fairly quick turnaround (7-10days?)

I have no idea how long they will take, from what I've been told the delivery can take a couple of days. Then it's Easter bank holiday so I'm expecting maybe three weeks.

Surprised not to have heard from @akamatsu? Similar system to mine and same dilemma: either Organik for Akubariks; or 360s (at some cost!); or wait for the new Selekt speaker with trickle down 360 technology.

Relatively modest price of the Organik upgrade made this an easy choice for me. :smt020

I was offered a very generous trade-in for the Akubariks towards 360s. So I jumped on it. Sealed the deal on March 15. So twelve weeks and counting.

The conversation started with a text from the dealer about the Akubarik Organik upgrade, and spiraled out of control from there. :D

In last night’s “Konversation” with Clive Gidney, on the Linn Enthusiasts Facebook group, Gilad said that the “very clever” engineer responsible for shoe-horning Organik in the Akubarik, had moved on to a job at CERN. So, they do attract some real talent to Linn.

He also said, that as Utopik would be their “stock” PSU, then it was intended that it would filter down to become available to replace Dynamiks already in the field. This would just take time.

Cool. Hope for all Amps then :D
No mention of Organik for Akurate though.... if the engineer has gone, perhaps shoe-horning it in is off the table for now :(
