Cool. Hope for all Amps then :D
No mention of Organik for Akurate though.... if the engineer has gone, perhaps shoe-horning it in is off the table for now :(
You’ve got to wonder what the market would be for Organik in Akurate. I see the Akurate Exaktbox-I has dropped the “Akurate”. That may be a candidate for what they learned during the Akubarik development? I’d be surprised if Majik or Akurate ever got Organik.

Enough for Akubariks. Plenty of Akurate DS, DSMs and Exaktboxes out there (more than Akubariks I wouldn't wonder).
Agree Majik won't. They changed the Majik Exaktbox-I to akurate when Katalyst was on the horizon for it.
There's still hope 🙏

I would have my ADSM Organik’d if they ever make it possible (and it is not a silly price) - alternative an Organik DAC in a box would suit. I don’t need lots of channels just a Stereo Organik DAC would be fine. Or best of all for me enable Space Optimised data out of a DSM S/PDIF (I cannot see why this is not technically feasible).

Aye, there’s the rub…

What would you do with the S/PDIF feed?

I could feed it into my Chord DAC for best of both worlds. Chord Blu2/DAVE is best DAC I’ve heard and certainly owned (not heard Organik). I use convolution with JRiver for room correction, but Space Optimisation gives better results.

I’m assuming the cost of SOV2 digital out would be significantly less than Organik. So affordability is my main reason.

To be honest, my record playing system sounds wonderful so I should be content.

I was offered a very generous trade-in for the Akubariks towards 360s. So I jumped on it. Sealed the deal on March 15. So twelve weeks and counting.

The conversation started with a text from the dealer about the Akubarik Organik upgrade, and spiraled out of control from there. :D
Congratulations! That would have been a step too far for me, but looking forward to your report :smt020

It's a big step for me. But the trade-in offer occurred as a once in a lifetime kind of deal. I had found myself mulling it over, and being distracted whilst listening to music wondering what a pair of 360s would do to my system. I've decided that if I find myself mulling too much it's time to take action.

In the 'In Konversation' video of 29 March, Phil Budd made a lot of the 360s' having the ability to disappear, such that the listener hears the music rather than the loudspeakers – so you can expect that!

Interesting also his emphasis on the ideas behind 360s development going back many years, and on continuing R & D in this direction, suggesting there is room for further improvement :smt020

I ordered my update last week.
The process should take 4-6 weeks for a customer from Germany.
I am very excited to see what the update will bring.
My Akubarik is still original so no Katalyst.
Has anyone heard the organic Akubarik?
When will the first ones be retrofitted?
Cheers

Out of curiosity I am heading to my dealer to do an A/B dem of katalyst and organik using two select units. Hopefully it will give me an understanding of what Organik brings to the table.
I asked Linn a couple of questions about what happens during the upgrade. They told me that when Linn receive the amplifier modules a completely new amplifier circuit board containing the Organik DAC is installed. Once the upgrade has been carried out a 5 year warranty applies to the electronics and drive units.
Regarding the 3k Arrays, I was told the Array settings are stored in the cloud against the loudspeaker serial number so are unaffected by the upgrade as the settings are downloaded by the new hardware.
Now to decide what music I want to use in the dem.

Have you had the dem yet Snug (edit: probably not yet, as your post was only yesterday!). Interested in your findings, with details of other equipment used. And are you doing the dem in order to get an idea of whether Organik for Akubariks might be worthwhile?

Hi Vincent,
I am just home from the dem. My dealer set up two selekt classics; both with Utopik but one with Katalyst and the other with Organik. Amplification was a pair of Linn Solos driving Kef Reference 1 Meta speakers. It is very different to my system at home but a good system in which to compare the two DACs.

I chose the following music, all on Qobuz:
Keb Mo - Suitcase - Life is Beautiful
Oscar Peterson - We get requests - You Look Good To Me
Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream live from PaisleyAbbey - Colours Fly and Catherine Wheel
Master and Commander Sound Track album - L Boccherini: Musica notturna delle strade di Madrid

First up was the Selekt Katalyst. The presentation was similar in many respects to my Exakt Katalyst Akubariks, but without the bass extension. The higher notes on Oscar Peterson's piano were strident and in places Tracy's voice was a bit sharp. Neither item is a major problem, and I get the same with my own system. Simple minds was quite busy, with the bass tending to the wooly side. The Boccherini was pleasant enough as was the Keb Mo track. My overall intention was to familiarise myself with Katalyst in this review system and having done so, we switched to the Organik DAC.

Keb Mo was infront of me and his voice was superb. Instruments were easy to follow and there was so much detail and space.
Oscar Peterson's piano was no longer strident on the high notes, and there was a brilliant swing feel to the track.
Tracy Chapman's voice was delighful and for a track I thought I knew well, there was so much previously unnoticed detail.
Once the Simple Minds got into their stride, they were no longer Phil Spectorish Wall of Sound-ish and it was easy to just follow the music or individual instruments.
The Boccherini was amazing. Organik was able to capture the performance and deliver it right there infront of me. It was an absolute pleasure to listen to.

I sat quietly for about 10 minutes thinking about what I had heard over the preceding listening session. It was evident that with Katalyst in the chain the music was really very good. Any reservations I had about the presentation was down to the fact my Akubariks have better grip and bass extension: regardless Katalyst performed well.

Organik was a very different experience. Music was presented with such clarity and detail in a manner which was totally involving and very enjoyable. I could have spent a good few hours just listening to music; it was such a pleasure. The recent addition of Utopik to my KSH was a big performance upgrade and I am very pleased with that step. I am happy to say that Organik is in the same league and I very much liked it. My mind is made up and I will shortly be in discussions with my dealer about the next steps.

I look forward to reading about other's experiences once they have had the Organik upgrade for their Akubariks.

Nice write up. Glad to read on the difference between the two DACs. I've written before the best upgrade I've ever done was to utopik. When I switched to katalyst, it was hard to differentiate as the amp spines had been away for a couple of weeks whilst we were away. My amp spines off the Akubariks have been away for two weeks now being organic'd. My dealer has left me with his spines so I will hopefully be able to hear any difference more immediately. I hope they should be back next week and will update when they arrive.

Great review, very informative. Reassuring for those of us who have taken the plunge without doing the A/B. From this and other reviews, I would expect the same degree of improvement with Exakt Akubariks. I'm hoping to have my modules back next week – as usual in these situations, no information from Linn on when (dealer has said it could be longer :( )

The downtime without music is one of the reasons I decided against the Organik upgrade for Akubariks.

I contacted Linn this morning about mine to be told "they are in the upgrade area" but have no idea if/when they will be done or returned.
Surely it's when, not if.

Not a problem if you have a good dealer.

The Snug wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 5:06 pm Hi Vincent,
I am just home from the dem.

:smt005 Let's hope so (when not if)! Two and a half weeks of being without the Akubariks was taken up with holiday. Of course the lengthy absence will make 'evaluation' more difficult. But hey, that''s part of the price – relatively modest in financial terms - we upgraders have to pay

Yes. Also, location may factor in. Being on the west coast of North America, the dealer and I figured it would takes at least weeks.

I've just seen your location, one of my favourite cities. I guess you could add another two weeks compared to myself here in the UK.

Vancouver is a fine city, with much to offer. I'm about 45 minutes south.

Was thinking that when Utopik happens for Akubariks, it should be a dealer install.
