I just had a pair of 350's delivered, similar cartons...... but took a battering at the hands of UPS.... Im thinking Linn should be using more substantial packaging considering the value of the contents, dont think delivery firms will ever have any respect for peoples packages, the guys that handled mine must have previously worked as baggage handlers at the airport

No pallet, just Laurel and Hardy with a sack barrow 😂 . I let the shop who sold them know so they could decide if UPS should be their preferred delivery service…. They were very apologetic and shocked to hear this.

Not sure what you are referring to. As far as the packaging is concerned the 360 packaging is similar but not the same as for the 350s. A lot of small improvements that in total provide a better protection - but still shipment by a carrier without a pallet does not seem sensible. Moving them in your own car from A to B is fine though.
Only to the packaging...I see that 360 carton boxes are too light for International shipping, like 350.
Escuse me for the stupid question but do you play tennis?

As stated, you have to ship the boxes on a pallet, only this way is safe enough.
Do not worry, I think I am not Crazy, just because I saw in a photo of you that you posted yesterday a yellow tennis ball on the left... just curious.

the Linn store near my house wrote to me that Katie and James will be there directly from Linn to present the 360. I would like to be there even just to train my ear (no, not with the 360 :smt018 but with Katye and James because I'll understand one word out of ten :smt017 ). I wrote to the store that I can't afford them. The store told me they don't want to sell all 360s and do not to worry.

Congratulations on this purchase! The color you have chosen matches perfectly with your interior. I hope they will provide you with excellent music pleasure for many years to come, and especially without any kind of clicks that are not part of the music, but generated by the speakers (heating up, cooling down, ...... ).

I just noticed, that both speakers will produce a short, soft hiss, when put into stand-by or woken up from stand-by.
It originates from the electronic section in the back and reminds me of a PC vent, when briefly starting and stopping again.
It seems to be intended, both speakers generate it in parallel and it is repeatable.
Do you notice the same? You need a silent room or might need to get close to a speaker in order to hear it.

I tried it. I did hear various clicking (switching) noises, but nothing I'd describe as a hiss.

Just out of interest, is there a minimum room size for such speakers? I imagine even if my room could allow for better positioning, 4m x 4.5m is probably too small!
Sorry, I have to pass on that one. All I can say is that when walking towards the speakers, a stage impression is created almost until I‘m between them, pretty amazing.
My room is about 4.5 m wide, and very deep as it captures the kitchen, dining, foyer, etc. The dealer told me a story of placing 350s in a rather smallish room. Apparently space optimisation can work wonders.

I was lying on the sofa on my side with my head much closer to the right channel. The stage impression was happening, and it was quite amazing.

Looking awesome!

Perhaps we can share notes on speaker locations. I haven't moved mine since initial positioning since it sounds so amazingly good. But I intend to move them out from the front wall. I see yours are pretty far out.

Congratulations! Our systems are practically identical. You have timetables, and I have AudioTech and NOKTable.

Sure thing, my dealer spend quite some time to find the ideal position. And as the speakers basically have no corner, we needed to improvise to get them properly aligned and measured. He has some wooden pieces to easily shift them on the tiles and a thread for aligning (see pictures).
In the end the position was about 5cm different horizontally and vertically.
In your case with the carpet I would move them virtually to find the best spot.
I just moved the speakers' ideal location 2 cm further away from the front wall. and set the current location (22 cm from front wall) as practical. I can hear more definition in the bass, easier to follow the tune. I'll physically move them out tomorrow.

By the way, the "corner" used for measurement is the back corner in the middle at the top of the speaker.

I played your audio file, and I can hear what you describe. it is not a hiss, but a “whoo” sound, indeed encountered when you boot some pcs and a fan in the pc fires up for a short while then winds down. I know for sure the 350s are equipped with such a fan, so probably the 360s also have them.

Please check https://ripcaster.co.uk/Linn_Organik_DA ... t_Speakers. The fan is clearly visible in the fourth picture.

Nothing to worry I would say.

Update: Last night when putting the system into standby, I did hear a sound that I hadn't heard before. I'm sure it was the same sound that you heard.

P.S. Perhaps it is a fan noise and the fan wasn't running earlier as I wasn't pushing the volume during the day. Last night I was listening (DS) at 70.

P.P.S. I just remembered you said you heard the sound coming out of standby. That would indicate maybe a fan coming on independent of heat.

Baba Yaga wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 6:04 pm Yes, I think it is a fan and I also think that the noise is louder when the speakers are heated up.
I was surprised that they would do the same, albeit softer, during booting up. Maybe @timster is correct about a kind of test. In any case the 350s never did this.
Thinking about it, during setup I was close to the speaker‘s back and felt it radiated quite some warmth, different from the 350s. Maybe the new power stage generates more heat?
Anyway, just a curiosity I tried to understand and not an issue at all (anyone remembering the ‚clicking‘ topic? 8) ).
I certainly do remember the clicking. I hope I've helped to put your mind at ease. :D

it would be nice to see how are inside the 360: the back of the Twitter, mid-woofer, how the Linn has exploited the space.

Baba Yaga wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:17 pm Just another curiosity: during setup I had my dealer check the correct electrical polarity:

Image

This is something not possible e.g. in the UK and US, as the plug will only fit one way. In Europe in several countries you can turn the plug by 180 degree and it will fit either way. This is not an issue in terms of safety but there is a sonically difference (short version is that there is no ideal transformer).
So the hot phase needs to be where the red dot is placed in case you were wondering.

Funny enough the two speakers are different in that regard :D , the other one has it on the left side.
The Red point Is attached directly by Linn factory or by retailler during setting?
Thank you.
