Re: Linn 242's Mk1 or Mk2 ?
As for the stands I understand, from distant memory, that the Mk1 stands are in two pieces (the front legs are separate to the back legs) whereas the Mk2 stands are solid one piece items like those in the photo above.

The glossy finish looks extremely good. Sorry off-topic.Coyote Jim wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 8:18 pm

There not mine I just posted the picture to help identify MK1 or MK2.
I’d be scared of a mark on those.

I do not think you are off-topic. Who know if the glossy finish Is one of the features for distingushes MKI from MKII. I had 212 in walnut and my friend 242 in black both MKI but item were not glossy.dol wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:54 pmThe glossy finish looks extremely good. But to think well is strange that Linn felt the need to make a 2nd. version about those loudspeakers, generally they do not make a MKII version of their products. Better drives like new 3K Array? Better crossover? Just a style refresh?

Re: Linn 242's Mk1 or Mk2 ?
Found this listing for Aktive cards on e-bay......
"These are suitable for AKURATE 212 before s/n 1144285 or for AKURATE 242 before s/n 1144285
(i.e. the 'Mark 1' version of these speakers)"
So looks like mine are Mk2's
