Re: 350P Switches
My understanding is as follows...
The Bass Shelf can increase/decrease the LOUDNESS of the bass produced by the speaker.
The Bass Roll On determines how LOW the bass the speakers can reproduce.
You can use these to refine the balance of the speakers in your room. Personally I have mine set to SHELF 0dB and ROLL ON 19Hz. My room is fairly benevolent so can accept the deep bass and I use Space Optimisation for further refinement.

Re: 350P Switches
Thanks, I had the shelf at 0 and the Roll ON at 19 at first then I felt the Bass was overpowering everythng else. May try changing back to 19 and lowering using the shelf...entdgc wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 7:46 pm My understanding is as follows...

My speakers are too close to the back wall but moving any further out I'd need to get rid of the missus

Re: 350P Switches
Are the speakers new to you? If so I would give it time for your ears to adjust. Mine are a little close to the back (or is it front?) wall too. I have a SWMBO - sorry music listening partner - as well so they are staying put. Do you have a DS? If so you have finer adjustment in SO than these switches offer.Coppersmith wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 8:03 pm Thanks, I had the shelf at 0 and the Roll ON at 19 at first then I felt the Bass was overpowering everythng else. Re: 350P Switches
Have had the speakers about 4 weeks now, did try the SO, inputted the room dims and speaker locations, sounded like it switched off the Bass..... I was running with 3 power amps (LK140s) but they were popping at start up so I am just using the amp in my DS-I for now. Hope to try a Akurate 4200 soon to see how that does so the fettling will begin again

Don't give up on SO. There is the preference slider which you can use to bring back some of the bass. Also there are the custom filters bass and treble shelves (which are outside of SO and so are always active) which act like a more sophisticated/refined version of the switch on the speakers. You may also find turning on the subsonic filter with a frequency of about 30Hz helps - this filters out frequencies which your speakers can't reproduce and saves the amps having to waste energy on them.
I ran a A3200 with my 350P's as a stop gap when I first got them. I got a (surprising to me) sound improvement going to a very old Klimax Twin - if you get chance definitely worth some extra £'s.

Re: 350P Switches
Your the second person to recommend the Klimax twin.... seen one for sale at £3k, 4200's at about £2k...... need to sell my old 242's and possibly some of my LK140's to finance a new amp... no hurry for now had a great session last night with current set up using Spotify, listened to Katie Melua then let it find simiar for a further 3 Hrs...... and the bottle of Merlot helped too..
